About Dr. Parekh
Dr. Swati J. Parekh is a highly accomplished ophthalmologist and co-founder of EyeCare Consultants of NJ (ECC-NJ) alongside her husband, Dr. Jai G. Parekh. She has served as Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at St. Joseph’s Health System in NJ since 2015.
As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Parekh brings decades of experience in comprehensive and surgical eye care. She is an alumna of the prestigious 7-year combined medical program at Boston University and New Jersey Medical School, where she graduated with honors. Dr. Parekh completed her residency and chief year at Boston University School of Medicine, training at renowned institutions such as Boston City Hospital, The Children’s Hospital of Boston, and the Boston VA Medical Center.
Dr. Parekh is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at New York Medical College, where she mentors medical students and residents in various specialties, including primary care and emergency medicine. Her areas of expertise include women’s eye health, population health, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, ocular surface diseases, and minimally invasive glaucoma and cataract surgery.
In recognition of her contributions to the field, Dr. Parekh received the “Humanitarian Award” from Women in Ophthalmology (WIO). She also has been named one of the "Best Doctors of NJ" multiple times from 2019 to 2024. Outside of her professional work, Dr. Parekh enjoys spending time with her three children and two dogs.
